The Duke of Edinburgh Award Leaders Training Workshop

Mr. Fabian Palmyre, Principal Secretary for Youth and Sports who is also the Chairman of National Award Authority officially launched The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Seychelles training workshop held at at the Maritime Training Academy from the 14^th to the 22^nd of November, 2019.

Ms. Joanne Waweru, The Business Support Manager from Africa regional Office and Ms. Wangari Kaburi from The President’s Award Kenya, facilitated the workshop focusing on Award Leaders Training, Adventurous Journey, Supervisor and Assessor Training, Online Record Book Training and Training for Trainers.

During his speech Principal Secretary Mr. Palmyre express his gratitude towards the facilitators for giving their time and support to the progamme in Seychelles. He pointed out that during the last nineteen years we have manage to touch and make a difference in the lives of just over six thousand young Seychellois.

Mr. Palmyre further stated during his speech that this milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and support of everyone involved with the programme. He urge the participants to take the opportunity to learn and share their experience so that the knowledge they will get out of this training will translate to the young people taking up the Award as a programme of choice.they can learn from each other.

Praslin Secondary School receive Copy of National Youth Policy

The Principal Secretary Mr. Fabian Palmyre and the Chief policy Analyst of the Youth and Sports Department presented on the 1st July 2019 a copy of the newly revised National Youth Policy to Headteacher Mr. Micheal Antoine in the presence of senior staffs members, the headboy Craig Sifflore and Headgirl Shanile Lesperance of the Praslin Secondary School .

Also present to witness this ceremony from the Youth and Sports Department, the Senior Policy Analyst Mrs. Merna Albert, Senior Monitoring Officer Mr. Francois Magloire, the Senior Compliance Officer for the inner Islands Mr. Jean-Marc Athanase and Ms. Natasha Barra Youth Worker of the Duke of Edinburgh international Award Seychelles.

Headteacher Mr. Antoine, thanked the Principal Secretary for choosing Praslin Secondary School and he assured the him and the Youth and Sports Department that him and his team will identify the priority areas and work with partners of the school and community to tackle and implement an action plan which will benefit the youth of Praslin in general.
